What I'm reading now

Jane Austen crossover fanfic from 1913. It's called Old Friends and New Fancies by Sybil G. Brinton. Colonel Fitzwilliam is in love with Mary Crawford. William Price is courting Kitty Bennet, and Georgiana is making friends with William. Based on their interaction, I suspect Kitty and William will break up and William/Georgiana will happen. Brinton almost lost me by naming one of the Price brothers David even though they all have names in Mansfield Park, but I was so far into the book I let it slide.

I'm also reading Dawn Wind by Rosemary Sutcliff. I like it so far.

What I'm reading next

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
Bomb Girls, Kate Andrews, vagabond

The trailer for her music tour instantly reminds Kate of the caravan she grew up, of all the years traveling around, cold winters and cool summers and the vagabonds her father pointed out to her. "Those are the consequences of idleness and sin," he used to say.

As she settles into her temporary home, she reminds herself of the difference: today, she is the one in charge.

Any book-to-movie fandom, Any, book characters react to their depiction in the movie (or vice versa)

"That woman behaves nothing like you," exclaimed Edmund. "And that man behaves nothing like my father."

"And more importantly," said Fanny, "where is my brother?"

(After posting the second I got a deja vu feeling, like I had seen it before? If it is plagiarized, it's entirely unintentional.)
Guys, someone wrote me Jacky Faber femslash!

And there is a whole bunch of fic in a whole bunch of other fandoms. I am in love with the Fanny Price Fight Club story. In love, I say.

nocowardsoul: young lady in white and gentleman speaking in a hall ([austen] mary)
Saturday night was prom, which was fun, and educational since I didn't know "Baby Got Back" had so many words. Also, Ben and I swung even though whatever song was playing wasn't exactly a swing song. Sunday night was the Lost finale. I'm okay with it, except I never liked Sayid/Shannon despite liking both characters. On Monday night, I went to bed very early.

Over the weekend I have to write two graduation speeches for my English final and study like hell for history and physics. Next Friday is senior picnic at a surprise location and it better not rain.

There's an interesting discussion about Mary Crawford on Pemberley.
